From: Jason Tan Boon Teck Date: April 20, 2004 Subject: [SamadNet] Greetings, It has been eons since I sent any mail out to you all. I hope that you are doing well either with your career and/or family. Personally, I've been busy, too but some matters propped up recently, prompting me to start this channel again. 1. SMSASESA As you're aware, we have formed the SMSAS Ex-students Association ("SEA") a couple of years back. It took a lot of time and difficulty before the Registrar of Society finally approved our application. The current president's Ezan who has been enthusiastic about the development of the SEA. The annual subscription is a meagre RM30 and membership is open to all who have completed their studies. Technically, that should not be correct since I'm still studying. :-) I just found out from last week's committee meeting that the membership has dwindled from more than 200 members to only a handful. How come you, may ask. It turns out that there is a clause in the constitution stating that a membership shall lapse if the annual membership subscription is not paid after 3 months. Meaning, if you're a member and you've not paid last year's subs, you're out. We're now at a juncture whether to dissolve the association or we get fresh transfusion in terms of blood and money. We need people who can contribute time and effort however small since the same bunch of weary souls have been doing the same thing year after year. We need funds to organise events and activities to raise more funds to contribute to our alma mater. We are going to try one last kopek this year and if it doesn't work out, we'll call it quits. We don't know when if ever will be revived again. Can you help in any way? All suggestions and contributions are welcomed. 2. Networking The website albeit extremely out of date is still alive. When was the last time you were there, eh? http://samadian.tripod.com/prakash.html The info is outdated with many inactive e-mail addresses. Please help me contact your friends that have moved. If you can help spread the network, please as requested before, ask them to fill up the form at http://samadian.tripod.com There's no constitution that bans undergrads. As long as you're out of SAS, you can join the network. 3. Old school photos I've been contacted by the editorial staff of the school magazine for old photographs - the one without your white hair, pot belly, shiny scalp, etc. :-) I'll try to make the arrangements on how we could pass the pics to them. Until then, hope to hear from you soon. L8R
