From: Ryan Wong Date: May 5, 2004 Subject: Re: [SamadNet] Portal development Hi Jason Thanks for the update. Suggestions and ideas... hmmm ... Well, I think the internet usage in Malaysia is still low, eventhough if you have great contents, you might not still get high hits on the website. Strongly agree that the list should be tightly moderated if there are forums, discussion board, or chat rooms in future. If left unmoderated, surely it will be exposed to abuse. About the portal .. errr mambo server, though I am in the IT line, I am not sure what it is. Probably is a LINUX kind of stuff. But should you be using Windows platform, do let me know, and I will see what or how can I help out. Meanwhile I will try to get in touch with ex-Samadians that I know and notify them the existance of ESA, and it is in danger of "deregistering". But a long shot though ... god knows where are they now. Ahh .. those were the days ... it was so easy to get the whole class(30 to 40 of them) chasing after a soccer ball during PE classes back then , now, even with these so called high tech communication, it is even hard to get 4 of them for a badminton game !!! Anyway, thanks again for the updates. --- Jason Tan Boon Teck wrote: > Hi Ryan (and everyone else), > > > Well, the ESA was formally set up a couple of years > ago by Adel and gang > (our seniors who are still actively involved). > > The ESA suffered from the lack of publicity and > awareness, since the school > cannot provide the addresses of the school leavers > to us and it would have > cost a bomb to flood the physical mailboxes of PJ > homes. > > There wasn't a proper website due to the lack of > volunteers and also > probably the lack of contents to keep it popular. > > However, we are now in the midst of merging SamadNet > (the informal network) > with the ESA's official website into one.
