From: Phang Swee Hong Date: May 9, 2004 Subject: Re: [SamadNet] Portal development Here's my two cents. Totally agreed that internet penetration is low in Malaysia but if everyone is working ( should if they are ex students and not living in the rural area) they should have the access to it. It's a far shot but if we could get those extremely successful ex-samadians eg. Bernard Chandran, Zang Toi and Steven Tai, and we induct them to Samadian hall of Fame with an extortion fee of RM50,000.00 I can add a sms portion and pay the telco for the sms and everyone should be in touch. So how's that for case for extortion? *grin* All in favour please email or sms Jason and make a contribution of RM1.00 per SMS. :) I'm running open source here because it is cheaper (free except for our own development) and I know there are many pro Windows ppl out there. I will try to get windows OS later if that's what everyone wants. But majority of the portal out there in the www are mostly open source with a only a few running asp or dotnet. Unless Microsoft is willing to give free to me, which I'm currently negotiating (a ex-samadian happens to hold a high position there), I don't see how we are shifting over there. Furthermore, for us to re-develop it in either asp/dotnet, it will take another 6mths to a yr. By the way, shouldn't we be testing this on the alpha stage message thread? :) regards, wookuai >From: jasontn@pc.jaring.my (Jason Tan Boon Teck) >To: Wong , samadian@yahoo.com >Subject: Re: [SamadNet] Portal development >Date: Thu, 6 May 2004 13:20:06 +0800 (MYT) > >Hi Ryan, > > >You're welcome.
