Personal rule of thumb: Never download or use anything that says version 1.0. Sure have problems wan! Anyway, there are lots of goodies you can find in http://freshmeat.net/ - i.e php/mySQL portals that you can readily deploy and use. I'm sure you can find portals that runs on Windows too, for FREE! All you need to do is install the codes into some web servers (make sure php and mySQL are loaded) and then configure it (your own images, etc) to suit your needs. Comes with admin modules to add/edit/delete forum treads, news, updates, etc etc. Don't really need a lot of programming unless you want to customize it. I also think we should have some sort of communication documents that tell the folks what are the deliverables, and timeline to achieve them. And then get everyone (the project team) to agree and move ahead. Maybe we begin with the end in mind: When do you expect roll out SAMADNET? Speaking of the project team, we need to formalize the teams: 2 Groups - Business and IT. Business Groups: Who are the stakeholders/sponsors ($$, servers), business/process owners (contents); IT Group: Who are the development/test team (portal), deployment/support team (portal); and an overall project manager perhaps? Looks like Jason is working OMO here. He definitely needs help. Jason, can you make a list of active ppl currently contributing to these email discussions? Then, we can select the right ppl for the job based on their current professional skillsets. We need to get the right fit for each role to speed up delivery (RAD approach) due to resource and time (well, we have time) constraint. And $$ too! --- Jason Tan Boon Teck wrote: > [SamadNet is an informal network of SMKSAS alumni. If you wish to opt > out from the list, please send a note to me.
